Creating meaningful connections: The Cleo difference
In a world saturated with content, campaigns, and constant noise, it’s easy for brands to speak, but much harder for them to be heard. Harder still to make people genuinely feel something. At Cleo, this is where we thrive. Our mantra, Creating Meaningful Connections, guides everything we do, and it’s the foundation of every relationship, every idea, and every experience we create. But what does it truly mean to create meaningful connections, and why does it matter so much?
Our reason for being
Meaningful connections don’t happen by accident. They are shaped by intention, empathy, creativity, and purpose. They happen when people feel understood. When teams feel supported. When clients feel seen. When audiences feel inspired. Over the years we’ve learned that connection is the most powerful tool an agency can wield, stronger than any channel, technology, or trend.
Connection drives engagement
Connection builds loyalty
Connection inspires action
Connection creates change
This philosophy is woven deeply into our culture. Inside Cleo, it shows up in how we collaborate and communicate. Outside Cleo, it defines how we build relationships with our clients and the work we deliver to the world.
Connection starts from within
Before we can create meaningful connections externally, we focus on cultivating them internally.
We create space for honest conversations.
We foster creativity through trust, not pressure.
We build teams that support, not compete.
We encourage curiosity, diversity of thought, and continuous learning.
We believe the energy inside the agency directly shapes the work we send out into the world. When our people feel connected, motivated, and empowered, the ideas get better. The thinking gets sharper, and the results speak for themselves.
Connection with clients: Partnership over supplier
We don’t “service accounts”, we build partnerships. Our role is to understand the heart of a brand’s challenge, not just the outline of a brief. Clients trust us because we dive deeper, look longer, and think broader. We ask the questions others don’t. We care about the things that matter to them. And we move at their speed, not ours.
When client teams feel connected to us, momentum, confidence and breakthrough ideas flow.
And that’s where meaningful work begins.
Connection through our work: Campaigns powered by purpose
Our projects go beyond KPIs and campaigns – they create real-world impact. Here are just a few examples that show what meaningful connections look like in action:
MK Dons: Turning every shirt sold into a school meal
When MK Dons approached us for a limited-edition shirt campaign, we saw an opportunity to connect football with community purpose. For every shirt sold, a meal was donated to feed local children. Fans weren’t just buying a kit, they were helping fight food insecurity. The response was overwhelming, proving that when purpose meets passion, connection spreads far beyond the stadium.
HSBC Sustainability Week: Connecting 60,000 employees globally
For HSBC, we delivered a global Sustainability & ESG learning experience designed to create lasting behavioural change. Over a week of webinars, challenges, interactive learning and eco-prizes, employees were brought together on a single platform. But the connection didn’t end there. We introduced a unique participation model:
1 point earned = 1 carbon credit generated.
Employees weren’t just learning about sustainability, they were actively contributing to it. In total, over 2,000 carbon credits were generated, funding projects that support reforestation, community development, and ocean plastic removal. We turned education into global action, and connection into measurable impact.
UNICEF Soccer Aid: Making the event carbon neutral
Football brings people together like nothing else, and Soccer Aid for UNICEF is proof of that. Working with the team, we applied the same carbon credit protocol to offset the entire event. The result? A carbon-neutral charity match where players and fans could score goals while supporting global climate goals.
This wasn’t just a campaign, it was a connection between sport, sustainability, and social good.
Why it matters more than ever
In a rapidly shifting world, people crave authenticity. Communities crave meaning. Brands crave trust. The organisations that will thrive are those that build relationships, not transactions; stories, not slogans; impact, not impressions.
At Cleo, Creating Meaningful Connections isn’t just what we do. It’s who we are.
It’s why clients choose us, why our work resonates, and why our culture keeps growing stronger. It sets us apart and keeps us grounded. Because when you build real connection, everything else follows. Creativity, performance, loyalty, and lasting change.
